Group Tours Overview

You want to bring your group out to the Valles Caldera National Preserve, but aren’t sure how? There are several opportunities available:

Group Van Tours and Guided Hikes

The Trust’s interpretive staff offers seven van tours and 16 guided hikes or can customize a tour or guided hike for your group.
Guided group applications must be submitted at least 30 days before the day you would like to visit. This allows us time to schedule interpretive staff, create a custom tour or guided hike, and check availability of resources, such as vans. Visits can be scheduled for any time on any day of the week; however, some van tours or guided hikes are better during certain times of the day. (For example, a wildlife or elk viewing tour works best in the early morning or evening hours when the wildlife and elk are more active.) Please note that van tours may not be possible during the winter season once the snow arrives.

How to request an interpretive van tour or guided hike:

  1. Read our Group Etiquette & Reservation Policies
  2. Look through descriptions of our available tours and guided hikes
  3. Send us a completed guided group application
  4. Click “submit” located in the upper right portion of the form.
  5. Follow on screen directions.
    1. If you are having trouble sending the application by email, you can print out the application and mail it to: Interpretation and Education Specialist, Valles Caldera Trust, PO Box 359, Jemez Springs, NM 87025.
  6. Print or save the file for your records.
  7. We will review your application and contact you to finalize the details of your van tour or guided hike. Please be aware that not all dates or times may be available due to special events, hunts, or prior commitment of resources.
