Here is your chance to explore the interior of the Preserve on foot. Capacity on each trail is limited, so expect to see few people and be able to enjoy the wildlife, scenery and solitude. These hikes require a reservation. In addition to the hiking experience , our knowledgeable recreation staff will share a bit of history and stories about the Preserve during your van ride to the trailhead. This van ride gives you the opportunity to see magnificent scenery and perhaps spot wildlife.
To reserve your day of hiking on the Preserve, select your hike from the available dates page. This site will accept credit card payments only.
You may also contact us by phone Monday-Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. (MST) and on Saturdays, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. (MST) by calling toll-free: 1-866-382-5537.
Hiking fees for day use are $10 per adult, with a discount of 20 percent applied to seniors 62-years-and-over. Youth 15 years-and-under are half-price, $5. The Preserve does not presently participate in the Golden Passport program.
Two trails - the Valle Grande Hike and the Coyote Call Hike - are accessible directly from parking areas on State Highway 4 and allow you to appreciate the Valle Grande without a fee or reservation, seven days a week.
Trails are primarily old logging roads with varying changes in elevation and degrees of difficulty. Because our roads are primitive and we have no parking areas on the Preserve, van rides to the trailhead are required. Please plan to arrive at least 15 minutes prior to your designated departure time. Pickup times will be arranged on the ride to the trailhead.
All reservations are final. We cannot reschedule your hike if your plans change. Please read the Return Policy for more information on refunds.
